Overnight freight, parcels and logistics specialist, Nightfreight, is delighted to announce that John Lewis Direct has chosen Nightfreight as its partner for 2-man home deliveries. This service will compliment the John Lewis internal 2-man delivery fleet.
The principle activity is with Nightfreight's unique Deliver2home service, operating within its logistics' division, which has been developed to complement the company's comprehensive range of integrated delivery solutions which additionally encompass 1-man home deliveries, 2-man delivery of big ticketed items and dedicated 2-man home deliveries.
For John Lewis Direct, Nightfreight collects and delivers orders placed on the Internet and ordered from catalogues through their Call Centre, including white goods, flat pack furniture, beds and sofas. In addition to collection and delivery, Nightfreight also provides added value services including unwrapping and assembly. Goods are collected daily from John Lewis Direct's Milton Keynes and Northampton distribution centres and transported to a dedicated staging post opened by Nightfreight as a packaging/feeder warehouse.
Goods are stored in the packaging/feeder warehouse while the Deliver2home call centre arranges morning or afternoon deliveries with customers. When dates and timings have been agreed, items are taken to Nightfreight's Willenhall hub ready for delivery. With the goods in transit, the Deliver2home 2-man teams telephone customers to confirm estimated arrival times.
Cabinet furniture and larger upholstery deliveries are catered for by the Nightfreight specialist two-man Pacemaker operation.
"We are pleased to say that Deliver2home has been gathering momentum rapidly over the past 18 months and are delighted to add yet another prestigious name to our customer portfolio," says Deliver2home director and general manager Paul Tyson.
"We worked closely with John Lewis Direct to study the products and handling requirements and extensive training was then undertaken for delivery crews, warehouse and sortation staff, general managers and call centre staff."
Since its launch, Deliver2home has seen a significant increase in volumes and now carries a diverse range of products including TVs, white goods, flat pack furniture, upholstery, play and leisure items, DIY and sports equipment.
Nightfreight's range of home delivery services positions it uniquely to provide integrated solutions, offering a delivery charge at each level appropriate to the individual retail transactions involved
"Nightfreight Deliver2home service complements the John Lewis internal fleet of 2-man delivery vehicles. A key objective in looking for a 2-man delivery partner was to provide the same level of professional and highly experienced 2-man delivery service provided by our own fleet. Nightfreight have met this objective and have enabled John Lewis Direct to offer all of our customers a consistent level of quality delivery service, across the country".
