THE CHALLENGE
Vacu-Lug required a logistics partner that could meet the company's high quality standards and support its round-the-clock operation. It was critical that any logistics partner demonstrated a flexible, forward-thinking approach to adapt to Vacu-Lug's changing distribution needs.
THE SOLUTION
Vacu-Lug appointed Nightfreight in 2002 as its dedicated supply chain partner to handle the logistics requirements for its operation across the UK. An initial five-year contract has since been extended for a further five-year period following the forging of a successful relationship between Vacu-Lug and Nightfreight.
Under the agreement, Nightfreight collects new and professional retread tyres from Vacu-Lug's facility in Grantham and transports them nationwide via Nightfreight's network of regional hubs to Vacu-Lug's 300 strong customer base, which includes TDG, Keuhne & Nagel and Veolia Environmental Services Ltd. Nightfreight also collects used casings on a nationwide basis as part of the logistics solution.
In April 2007, Nightfreight worked closely with Vacu-Lug to seamlessly transfer Pirelli's retread production and distribution into the existing operation. The partnership with Pirelli added demand on production for Vacu-Lug and resulted in a significant increase of products entering Nightfreight's network. Nightfreight efficiently absorbed the additional volume into the distribution solution without impacting on delivery lead-times or customer service.
