COURSE TITLE: (LGV) Large Goods Vehicle driver training category 'C1' 7.5 Tonne, `C` Rigid and `C`+`E` Articulated.
DURATION: 5 to 10 day courses (all subject to driving qualifications or assessment).
LOCATION: Nightfreight Training Services, Burnley
TIMES: Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm
COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES
On completion of the course, trainees should be capable of passing the Department of Transport Driving Test.
TRAINEE SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum age 21 and
A. Must hold a `full` car licence, which covers Group `A` under the old system or Category `B` under the new system.
B. Must be in possession of an LGV licence `full or provisional`.
COURSE CONTENT
Course introduction/documentation - Highway Code - vehicle safety questions - video(s) - safe driving practices.
Practical Roadcraft (correct driving practices), manoeuvring exercises.
Course culminates with the Department of Transport Test, which is normally on a Friday.
WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
PROVISIONAL LICENCE APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Book a medical examination with your own doctor. Medical Report (D4) is required to be completed by the doctor.
2. Complete the driving licence application form (D1). Send this with the signed Medical Report form with the fee plus your car licence, by recorded delivery to the DVLA. Response rate is 2-3 weeks, normal post is 5-6 weeks.
3. When making changes to your existing licence it is now a legal requirement that you apply for a Photocard licence to do this you will have to complete form D750.
4. Upon receipt of the provisional LGV licence, you are now able to book your theory test, and call us to book your assessment drive. Important - Remember to bring your provisional licence, when you attend for the assessment.
5. Once the assessment is complete, your instructor will give advice as to the length of course required to bring you up to the test standard.
THEORY TEST
It is a legal requirement for all candidates wishing to gain an LGV licence to also sit a theory test before sitting their practical test. Only when you have a pass Certificate for both practical and theory tests will a full LGV licence for the relevant category be issued. In this pack we enclose a theory test booking form that explains the procedure to follow.
NOTES
- Our training courses are usually Monday - Friday
- Please bring yourself a packed lunch and flask (optional). Tea/Coffee are available at the centre, meals and sandwiches are available locally.
- Please bring yourself a warm coat, as time will be spent on manoeuvring area.
